OWNER - TRAINER

I founded Follow Me K9 Training in 2017, and since then it has a great reputation in the animal-owner community. I provide obedience training and rehabilitation for family pets.

In late 2021, my husband received a job transfer so Follow Me K9 moved to Shakopee in May 2022!  I'm enjoyoing serving the Twin Cities area and beyond! I went to college in Mankato (Bethany Lutheran College) so it's good to be back!

I know each animal is different, and I’ll work with yours to give them guidance that is tailored to their needs. Dog training is not only about training the dogs, but the people too.  So finding what works for the human is just as important as finding what works for the dog.  I love coming up with creative solutions and helping you achieve your training goals!  I will help you build a strong relationship with your dog using whatever your dog loves to do!

I have been training dogs since I was a little girl. I have always had an instinct for it. My first job out of college was with a major pet retail store as a trainer. But I soon found "Pure Positive" training was lacking something. After adopting my first dog, Jasper, he had some behaviors that we could not work through with only treats. While searching, I discovered other ways to train dogs! These methods (centering around establishing communication and building relationships,) saved Jasper's life and launched my career as an independent dog trainer.  I am always looking to learn more and attend seminars and workshops regularly. I have also dabbled in various things such as bite work, nose work, and tracking.

My family owns two dogs, Jasper, a 10 year old Mini Aussie and Aria, a 7 year old mostly deaf Australian Shepherd Blue Heeler mix. These two are a vital part of Follow Me K9. They help me train and rehabilitate dogs and they absolutely love their job! 

In 2019, Johanna joined the IACP

 

 

The IACP holds it's trainers to a standard of excellence. They also provide ongoing education opportunities for members.
